Street Light Changes Save Cash and Carbon
Almost 2,000 street lights are being switched off or dimmed in Leicestershire as part of ambitious plans to save cash and cut carbon.
By April,In January, Republican lawmakers introduced legislation establishing that led downlight incandescent bulbs manufactured in Minnesota and not sent to other states aren't subject to federal law. They said the Ninth and 10th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution guarantee a state's right to provide such protections. 1,960 lamps alongside main roads in a number of areas will be turned off or dimmed.
The move is the latest stage of Leicestershire County Council's plan to cut £700,000 from its £3million street lighting power bill and reduce carbon emissions by 3,000 tonnes each year.
Since the project was launched last year,Two years ago, Bachmann led an unsuccessful effort to get the led lighting government to reconsider that approach. the plug has already been pulled on 90 lights. Over 3,000 lamps in 25 villages go off between midnight and 5.Marketing officer Jo Lewis said: "The new ds マジコン lights really make the venue come alive. People have been commenting on how spectacular they look and I really think they make coming to the theatre more welcoming and enjoyable."Motorist Ian Beesley added: "It was running really well — they should Led lamp leave the lights switched off."30am - another 29 villages are set to get on board over the next few months.
Lesley Pendleton, County Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "Dimming lights beside main roads and switching off others that aren't needed saves money and reduces energy costs and pollution.
"Before changes are made to any street lights, every potential site is assessed thoroughly and consultation carried out with the emergency services and the council's accident unit.
"The vast majority of feedback has been positive and although we do recognise there may be public concerns about switching off street lights late at night, other councils have adopted this approach and found that it has not led to increased crime.
"Just by making these simple changes, we can save £700,000 and cut annual carbon emissions by 3,000 tonnes and that has to be worthwhile.energy saving light bulbs are a great way to save energy and money."
